TEXT
Here's one of those stop-motion times, unexpectedly . . .
As things hassle by, the gate shuts. It's Bonsai-quiet, another timeless world.
Your screen displays text, this text, talking about a panel of psychedelic eyes painted on a split rail cedar fence. The pull is powerful, drawing you into a world just ahead. Familiar or not here comes a possible instant of fright. A digital screen?
Virtual reality does live where drone mind phantoms rule. Sharp and clear and very definite. Your cousin's virtual Facebook dog jumps into the van. But text -- how real is that?
After a moment's hesitation, the latch clicks. You're in here.
Ferns that were lost in the rush, with octopus tentacles in their own green dimension, grow red textured pods. Outside the insanity rushes on, no denying it. But this text . . . .
holds its own.
The realization is welcome company. Mushrooms sprout as fast as one hand clapping. A silent stand of redwoods in their grove. Laughter -- who was that? It's company of the first sort, of quiet as a matter of course. The gate opens . . . .
Leaves flutter down like gratitude, shyly rendered.
The power of text.
