PISTORY
Are you listening?
Yes, I am.
Plastiglomerate.
And by that you mean . . .
It's a new rock type that's just showed up. Discovered in Hawaii ~ melted plastic with bits of sand and sea shells included, all solidified. It'll last millions of years, way beyond any fly speck cultural revolution.
Well, thank you for that. Really. From now on, for no very good reason, I feel comforted.
You do realize, it was just an accidental barbeque. . .
Yes, I know. But there's the beauty, don't you see? All those bright bits solidly enshrined, practically forever. Actually it's a sort of an art project that stepped off the bus, maybe in a picnic basket carrying Jackson Pollock's dream.
Put it on a pedestal at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara. Put a spotlight on it!
Yeah, now we're on the same wavelength! Crazy things somehow stoned together, welded out of stuff gotten from a creek. Rusty forgotten stuff, top of the line industrial in its day, and can feel the gears of history turning.
That step ladder with thumbtack ants riding wheelbarrows up a metal sunflower?
The curator of the museum is looking out the window.
A Viking cruise to Hawaii, perhaps?
It's hard to concentrate when there's so much good stuff around. Or take some thin sliced salami along for the trip up Mauna Kea. It's just not going to last.
I think he's looking at that civic hero statue in the park. A real artist sees beyond, way into the guts of civilization, and pulls up something. A sea gull. A eucalyptus squiggle.
A fanfare, right? It's got to be the dream that got away. Pollock's squiggles!
We've gone past Hawaii.
The purpose of it all.
That's what they'll think.
?
When they find the plastiglomerate.
