OUR NESTED REALMS
Now that leaves have fallen, waning light pervades, tracing cables and power lines. A few branches of the hackberry tree can be seen encroaching. Pruning is in order.
What do trees know? Some produce nuts, progeny for another season. Nuts are squirreled away for a different reason, to be dug up in a season of recollection, as small holes in the lawn testify.
REALMS
For longer than we can remember, nature has been developing. More discernible is the history of civilization. People just now waking up to what is happening might forestall the imminent implosion. Or not. Sensing a loss of privilege, the dominant caste is reverting to barbarism. My eye doctor's world seems less affected, yet though continuing to study, he says relevant knowledge is increasing faster than any one person can absorb it.
Earth is nested in the universe. Human thought has developed here. It bundles calculable information with that which elides and obtains. None of this is forgotten.
Summer's hornets have become silent. For city dwellers, unseen power and communication lines remain in service. Forgotten birds inspire popular songs.
