In 1890, August Kekule was honored by the German Chemical Society for his 1865 paper on the structure of benzene. He attributed his discovery to a dream, Ouroboros, the snake seizing its own tail. Scientists observing quantum uncertainty since then admit a mystery that eludes logic. The electromagnetic invisibility of dark matter eludes direct observation altogether. Common sense has been given a new frontier.
Common Sense: Out-of-box experiences, hunches that come true,
precognitive knowledge not repeatable on demand, the Change,
as noted by citizen scientists, is personal.
It lives individually, in a wave that carries along earth and its creatures. Each person raises the level. Some speak of raising all boats, touting monetary benefits that trickle down from fracking for oil. Indeed, sea levels are rising as the ice caps melt.
Common Sense: The sum of awareness is evident.
No amount of advertising or media inattention can hide the Change in weather. In sum, fossil fuels must go. Books of philosophy or sociology have not determined this. But not everyone gets it. Those with majority dollar votes contend that real votes about established facts are ignoratic. It may be observed that where dollars achieve the least for common weal, life for the dollar majority holders is princely.
It's more than the climate, of course, or the reach of old-school logic, politics, traditions. Lots of people have no place in the equation, no place anywhere, housed or not, family or not, parents or not. No direction, no ground of being. This is no door-to-door leaflet, textbook admonition, railroad track to a gleaming solution.
Let's clear the track.
Capitalism has been declared both victorious and culpable. Likewise Socialism, Fascism, Communism, despotism, extend the list. Climate Change is a windsock. Nothing has worked. What will?
Just imagine an unnecessary vehicle riding dark matter, warped by virtually limitless power. And the plan for this . . . ?
Common Sense: State isims are simplistic and blunt, do not allow for unique
individuals. Rivers and streams die in concrete channels.
Economic isims reduce life to money and the lie of infinite
growth. The planet is raped, causing wars and a litany of
disasters, here just briefly sketched. Rules not grounded in the
valuation and exchange of things are necessary. Forget the box.
See it all at once. It? Scary?
Indeed. But so is business as usual. Insanity – doing the same, expecting different. So get a jump on it, and that would be . . .?
Common Sense? Greed is good, war is necessary, suffering and pain are the enemy's
just deserts, to be a cyborg is to be free.
Common Sense: Water does not flow uphill. How many people can the earth feed,
what sort of land use is implied, how will that affect the Change,
as free now as before my original face.
Is mere subsistence the best we can do? Scarcity is old-school. How will we employ antigravity, fusion power? The out-of-box experience should be recognized as well as lives that are not confined to concrete channels. In places with clear air, which can again be all places, stars can be seen.
Common Sense: Renew life, celebrate it. Be vigilant and ready. Be an individual
because you are the Change as much as anyone else. It's not
about things. And frackers and princes, also the Change, are
human. Life is a miracle.
