Santa Clara's 2010 Calender mentions a Code
of Ethics & Values.. It "... has caused all of us in the City to give
more thought to public trust in government . . . How is it earned?"
Silicon Valley Power, a utility we all own,
need and use, has earned it. In 2007,
over 50% of SVP's power came from renewable resources. Having generated just power, not profit for
investors, we pay about half of what residents pay in areas supplied by
PG&E.
As thunder from the Great Recession merges
with climate change, giving our money to stadium speculators brings few certain
returns other than traffic, noise and pollution, listed as Unavoidable
Significant Impacts in the EIR, and a colossus we don't need. This inspires shock, not trust.
